7 Nutritional Tips To Live By

Use these 7 nutritional tips to get lean and stay fit!
Most of the time we get bogged down by such detailed “diets” that it can be so overwhelming. These 7 nutritional tips will help you get back to basics. The nutritional tips are easy to follow and even easier to implement. Start off slow. Pick one and try it out until it becomes a habit. Then add a second nutritional tip when you are ready.
1. Rule For Weight Loss – Eat Right!
I hate to say it, but it’s so true; you are what you eat. And if you want to lose weight (or gain weight) stay off that treadmill and don’t touch those weights until you’ve first taken a long, hard look at what you eat. The “trick” to good nutrition (and therefore faster results) is to feed your body a combination of protein, fats and carbohydrates every few hours, this ensures proper recovery from workouts AND optimal energy levels throughout your day. Balanced nutrition is the key.

Choose the least processed forms of food such as fruits, veggies, and whole grains. It is scary how far from food our food has become. Pick products with one ingredient list (or at least under 10 ingredients).
3. Eat breakfast every day.
There is a reason it’s called “break” “fast”. You are stopping the fasting you did while you were sleeping. Your body needs a good meal to prep you for the rest of the day. Studies have shown that successful people who have lost weight and kept it off start their day off with a well-balanced breakfast.
4. Eat smaller portions more often, spread evenly across the day.
No excuses – you should be eating 5 – 6 meals per day. This is going to boost your metabolism throughout the day and thwart those cravings. What happens when you are REALLY hungry?? You eat anything and everything in sight. Eliminate that by eating smaller meals throughout the day.

Aim to drink half your body weight in ounces. This is a good estimate of how much water you should be drinking. If you are over 260lbs, aim for about a gallon (128 ounces) per day. For every caffeinated beverage, have the same amount in water to offset the caffeine. So if you drink 8 ounces of regular coffee have an additional 8 ounces of water.
6. Drink a mixture of carbohydrate and protein after your workout to preserve lean muscle mass and help alleviate muscle soreness.
Right after a workout, your muscles are primed and ready to ingest simple carbohydrates. This is the best time to have fruit. Your post workout should include a quick digestible protein and some fast digesting carbohydrates like a protein powder shake with fruit.

Food should be your medicine but our food has become over processed which may lead to insufficient minerals and vitamins. To cover all your bases a quality multivitamin is recommended.
