Does Your Past Dictate Your Future?
If someone earns $10,000 a year, does that mean they can never earn more than $10,000 a year? Of course not, right?
And if you have failed at a long history of diets, does that mean you can never lose weight?
Again, of course not. Even if you have tried time and again to lose weight without achieving the results you want, you can still be successful at weight loss.
Your past does not dictate your future.
No matter how many diets you’ve tried, and how frustrated you’ve become, don’t let that discourage you.
I promise you the diet is the problem.
It’s not you.
And you can be sure that those diets weren’t a waste of time. You did get something out of them – you figured out what doesn’t work for you. Maybe that’s not the result that you were looking for, but you learned something.
You have to find the meal plan that’s going to work for you. And I don’t think it’s in some structured diet. A food log can be eye-opening to get an awareness of where you are, but I don’t like food logs for the long term. You don’t need them.
Instead, you need to change your limiting beliefs and the stories that you’re telling yourself.
Be open to thinking new thoughts.
Clear your head, and figure out what does work for you.
And as stupid as it sounds, you have to love your body – or at least appreciate how it’s trying to protect you.
