S.M.A.R.T. Goals from Shape It Up

You’ve heard of the acronym S.M.A.R.T. Goals…

I have some smart goals of my own that are gonna help you stay on track for the New Year.

Today we are talking about my S.M.A.R.T. Goals

You know or might have heard of the typical S.M.A.R.T Goals acronym.

S.M.A.R.T Goals

  1. Specific

  2. Measurable

  3. Achievable

  4. Relevant

  5. Timely

Those are excellent goals but that is not what I’m talking about today.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Say It Every Day

Every morning I want you to get up and

(you don’t have to look in the mirror) but I want you to repeat your goals in your head.

So whatever your goals are I want you to constantly to be thinking about them.

Think about not just what they are but what you’re getting out of those goals.

So, if you’re trying to lose weight, what things do you get to do once you lose that weight?

  1. Do you get to go shopping and pick out a nice new pair of pants?

  2. Do you get to go rock climbing or skiing?

  3. Or do different activities that you’re not used to doing?

  4. Do you get to play with your kids and not feel out of breath running around and playing with them?

  5. Do you have more energy?

  6. Do you have more relations with your husband or spouse?

All these things are the benefits of what you get out of your goals.

So repeat them daily.

Manage Your Goals

Put your goals and how you’re gonna achieve them into a calendar.

Make them an appointment  you’re gonna stick to it.

If your goal is to do a pull-up then every day you need to

have a plan as to how you’re gonna attack that goal and get those pull-ups in.

Make it an appointment in your calendar a non-negotiable you cannot change it appointment.

Very, very, very important… you have to act on your goals.

If not they’re…what’s the saying… they’re just wishes right?

Make sure you take action.

Again that goes back to the “M” I just said above is about  managing your goals.

Mark it in your calendar and do it.

Don’t…don’t slough it off.

You’re not going to achieve your goals unless you act upon them.

Realize your goals may take you longer than you anticipated.

Sometimes you get into a goal and things happen.

You may get sick.

Something may happen in the family.

Lots of things go on and that’s okay life isn’t always smooth sailing all the time.

I like to call them speed bumps.

You got to get over the speed bumps and figure out how you’re going to navigate around them and achieve your goals.

So sometimes you need to realize it may take you a little longer than you anticipated

and that’s okay.

Just keep going after that goal.

Tell Someone About Your Goal

If you have been following me for a while …back in July or August of 2017

I declared to everyone that I was going to do a fitness competition in the future (I am still working on this goal 😉

Now, you don’t have to get a YouTube channel and announce it to the world

(if you want to go for it but you don’t have to do it to that extreme)…

but tell people that are going to respect your goal.

People who are going to listen to you and bring you up instead of tear you down.

There are some people that may laugh at your goal…

and that’s okay. That says a lot more about them than it does about you.

I have lots of people looking at me cross-eyed going…

“why would you want to do a fitness competition??”…

and that’s okay because that’s not their goal.

That’s my goal.

Whenever you have a goal, just keep in mind who you’re telling.

Make sure they’re supportive or if you want to announce it to the world like I did…

just make sure you have the strength to kind of take what’s gonna come back at you.

Make sure you tell people what your goal is.

So those are my S.M.A.R.T. Goals for you today.

I’d love to hear what your goals are or if you have a plan for your goals.

Go ahead and put it in the comments section below.
